What is a breast lift
If you are considering a breast lift
A breast lift, technically known as mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that raises and reshapes breast tissue and relocates the nipple to a higher position. A mastopexy can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple.
A breast lift does not increase upper fullness or cleavage. Patients who want that added volume often combine the lift with implants in a single operation, known as an augmentation mastopexy, which raises the breast and fills the upper pole at the same time. Whether that suits you is one of the things the consultation is for.
The other trade-off is the resulting scars, and Dr. Hosn selects the incision pattern to keep them as discreet as the degree of lift allows.
Are you a candidate?
The best candidates for a breast lift are women in good health who want to improve the shape of their breasts, reposition the nipple, or remove excess skin. The sagging that follows pregnancy, nursing, weight change, and time is exactly what the procedure is designed to correct, along with stretched skin, enlarged areolas, and differences in position or shape between the two sides.
What to expect
A breast lift usually takes one and a half to three hours under general anesthesia, and is typically performed in an accredited outpatient surgical center. Incisions may be placed around the nipple only (donut), around the nipple and vertically down to the breast fold (lollipop), or around the nipple, vertically, and along the breast fold (anchor).
Which pattern Dr. Hosn recommends depends on how much lift you need and how much excess skin has to come out. Most patients return to work in about two weeks, resume light exercise at three weeks, and return to full activity at six weeks or more, with final results typically visible at twelve months. Procedure, recovery, and results will vary from patient to patient.

Planning your consultation
In your initial consultation, Dr. Hosn will spend the time needed to understand your goals, perform a complete examination, and make recommendations tailored to your anatomy. Our office is committed to educating every patient on the risks, benefits, and alternatives of this procedure.
The typical patient meets with Dr. Hosn three times before proceeding with any major procedure. That matters especially for breast surgery, where those conversations define your expectations for shape, nipple position, and scarring well before any commitment is made. Those visits are also where you decide whether adding implants would serve you better than a lift alone.
